Erotica Cover Watch

Why only women on the covers of erotic books?

Man Candy Monday

7720legsErotica Cover Watch are holidaying right now so if you want to hang by the pool till we return, please do. The view’s lovely.

The man with the beautiful back and excellent legs is model, Simon Lloyd (no relation), whose website is here. I found it fascinating to take a peek into the world of the man behind the image, even (especially) if a lot of the peeking was via more sexy images.

There’s an interesting post on Carnal Nation about male nude modelling and the taboos on the naked male body.

And a great post about Filament on Male Submission Art where maymay declares that magazines and sites which ‘acknowledge a female gaze, are stepping stones to more than just access to quality erotica for women, but also to a healthier and happier sexual self-expression for men.’

See? Everybody wins!

Back soon. Kristina x

  1. Since I’m on vacation, your invitation to hang by the pool couldn’t have come at a more perfect time.

Meanwhile, my Mancandy Monday post this week features Matthew McConaughey in a very dramatic pose. I’m running a contest in connection with it. Whoever posts the most clever caption for the pic wins a free copy of my most recent book.

  4. re Carnal Nation article: (on why men are uncomfortable with male nudity)

“Traditionally, men are hunters, and women are prey, and when a man sees a naked man, he doesn’t see prey, he sees another hunter. Maybe it’s a little unnerving to see a hunter in the position of prey.”

If – traditionally – men see women as prey, it’s a wonder we have any baby humans around. And that we survived as a species at all. Since – traditionally – one kills and eats prey. And – traditionally – for all predatory species, the female also hunts prey. And as far as I know, the only animals (some insects and spiders) where one mate routinely kills and eats the other, it’s the female who’s doing the killing and eating.

I wonder why we have such a cultural investment in the hunter/prey analogy for male/female sexual interactions?

Then again, this is a website that often explores the radical notion that heterosexual and bi women are sexually attracted to the male body – which should be about as controversial an idea as “the sky is often blue”. So maybe it’s not so strange that so many men see women as unwilling sexual partners that need to be stalked and brought down as prey. Still, creepy guy.
